Senior Management

Larry Kaumeyer possesses 15 years of experience building, developing and leading high performing teams. Larry has a passion for helping teams achieve excellence and since joining Almita as President in September 2006, he has focused on helping Almita’s talented team achieve its full potential.

Prior to joining Almita, Larry held three senior executive roles at ATB Financial where he oversaw the expansion of Business Lending, Channel Development and Marketing and Product Development. Larry’s other work experience includes the financial services, government and investment banking sectors. Larry is a graduate of the University of Alberta. Larry is a Director of Delta Waterfowl and is actively involved in wetland conservation in Canada.

Ken Stebner
Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations, offering over 20 years of experience in the screw pile industry, Ken is responsible for providing overall leadership in the areas of manufacturing and quality. He liaises with the Sales and Marketing Team as well as the Installation Department to ensure that project requirements and timelines are met for every customer. Also, Ken is involved in the direction of research and development of the company’s ever evolving products, fabrication, and installation equipment. Ken is always looking for new products, processes, and innovations to better serve Almita and their customers.

Starting work with Almita’s parent company in 1986 as an apprentice welder, Ken has been around since inception. Working and growing with the company, Ken has held positions including Equipment Fabricator/Operator, Production Manager, Installation Manager, and Operations Director. These experiences make Ken a valuable resource for the rest of the team by providing insight into the daily operations and strategic direction of the company.

Richard Schmidt
Engineering Manager

When Richard joined Almita in 1998 he was the first engineer on the team. Since then Richard has been influential in building the engineering team and developing Almita’s reputation for innovative engineering solutions. Richard plays a key role in the overall design of foundation systems and was instrumental in developing the Almita Screw Pile Design Manual offered by Almita to its customers. Committed to quality, Richard is also responsible for the overall implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvements of the company’s ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Program.

Prior to joining Almita, Richard worked at EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd., where he performed soil and material testing in a geotechnical lab facility. A P.Eng., Richard is registered in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Co-op) from the University of Alberta as well as a Diploma in Civil Engineering and Technology from Okanagan College.

Matt Young
Installation Manager

Matthew provides overall leadership and direction for the installation functions at Almita. He champions safety and quality in all installation activities and acts as a role model for all field staff in this regard. Matt manages the hands on operation of Almita’s installation functions, including scheduling and capacity. He ensures, that as the company grows, installation capabilities meet or exceed industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness. An experienced operator and leader, Matt works hand in hand with our team of engineers and has provided on-site supervision and management on most of our large projects.

Matthew first joined Almita in 1997. During his extensive career with Almita, Matthew has emerged as a leader in the organization. Starting out in the manufacturing area, Matt pursued his welding apprenticeship and held the position of Welder. He moved to the Installation team and quickly progressed to becoming one of Almita’s most qualified and precise screw pile installers. Ambitious and well respected by the team and clients, Matt moved into a Supervisor role and was promoted to the Manager role in July 2010. Matthew holds a Red Seal Journeyman Welder ticket, a CWB Level 1 Visual Welding Inspector ticket and numerous other field related qualifications.
