POSITION SUMMARY

The Drafting and Design Technologist will work within a well-established and dynamic team that designs, manufactures and installs helical piles.  At Almita, the role will serve as a part of a world-class team of experienced helical pile engineers and technologists. This position reports to the Director of Project Services and will require you to work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare engineered helical pile designs, shop drawings, installation drawings and manufacturing drawings.
  • Assist in the identification of engineering problems and design deficiencies and recommend design solutions.
  • Generate, check and revise design and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and other computer design software.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, technical specifications and reports.
  • Participate in project and client meetings as required.
  • Assist with the development of company drafting standards.
  • Periodically generate shop drawings for manufactured shop and installation equipment.
  • Enter and maintain manufacturing data part numbers and (once trained) resource requirements in Enterprise Resource Planning software for ‘Engineering Part Masters'.

PROFICIENCIES

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D AND SOLIDWORKS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The following are required:

  • 2 to 5 years industry experience providing computer aided drafting and design
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology
  • Excellent computer skills including practical knowledge of MS Office and other related applications

The following are assets:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment 
  • Knowledge of construction, safety standards and building codes 
  • CNC program experience for the programming of manufacturing plasma table.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Solid Works for more sophisticated installation drawings and to complete underground interference checks.
